7 Peruvian companies receive training on human rights.
The new Accelerator Program "Business & Human Rights" begins.
The UN Global Compact in Peru has started the "Business & Human Rights" Accelerator Program, a new program to promote the management of human rights in companies.
During the next 6 months and after investing more than 50 hours, the representatives of the selected companies will learn concrete ways to identify, prevent, mitigate and remedy risks to human rights in their operations and throughout the value chain. .
Through sessions created on demand, companies will be helped to assess their impacts on human rights, develop an action plan to mitigate risks, track their progress and communicate it effectively. In addition, they will learn from best practices internationally and engage in peer learning at regional and local levels, creating a valuable network of peers, partners and experts who will inspire them to shape their human rights work and advance a global movement.
" Incorporating a human rights approach allows companies to move from words to action. Understanding that risks to people are business risks is a key element for building resilience in an ever-changing context. We congratulate companies participants who are taking this first step and we invite the Peruvian private sector to raise its ambition in terms of sustainability ", commented our Country Manager, Adriana Quirós Carranza.
The Accelerate Program was developed by the specialized team of the UN Global Compact and Shift . Likewise, in Latin America, the facilitated sessions are carried out thanks to the kind collaboration of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the UN - OHCHR .
In this first edition of this ambitious Accelerator Program, we have more than 800 participating companies, 7 of them representing Peru.
